Job Self-Confidence – 5 Tips

Job Tips – Self-confidence

Hi my loves,

you might think: what the hell is she going to tell us now?

Well I just want to give you some professionell tips for achieving your job goals. They also helped me from time to time. I not only have a few years on the hump, no, I am also a HR professionell so I know what I am talking about. 🙂

So let’s start:

1. The external protective shield

Of course I do not mean a knight’s armour even this could be helpful some days. What I am talking about is a look that perfectly fits you. Something you feel safe and strong with. A look that shows your strength and sovereignty.

This can be a well-fitting blazer or suit, a great pair of shoes, a special dress or even a piece of jewelry which you are carrying for years and which has brought a lot of luck so far. However you should feel strong and safe with it. Especially if you attend a important meeting or conversation. It is your sheet anchor, some kind of invisible double net. This is a first essential step.

2. Pay attention to your voice

If you are sitting in the last corner far away from the others in a meeting and if you would obviously love to hide yourself right under the table, it is really not a good basis. And if you are on top speaking with a quiet peeping voice you can leave the room immediately! No one is going to take you for serious!

Take a seat right in the middle of the table, near to the others, take part actively and speak with a loud and firmly voice!

3. Do not undervalue your body language

Return to our meeting situation. Body language is telling so much about a human being. If we want or not, we are always communicating. Somebody who sits in front of us with folded arms and looks grumpy involuntary shows a defensive attitude.

Put your legs next to each other on the ground, arms relaxed beside or put it on your chair arm backs. Smile from time to time but not to often. If you are standing somewhere, do the same. Your legs beside each other, a litte bit turned outside. Never ever put your hands on your hips! If you don’t know what to do with your hands: just think about Angela Merkel or watch some of your male colleagues, they are doing right instinctively!

4. Always stay professionell

We all have bad days. We really have and everybody knows about it. And sometimes there are some real tragedies in our private life. Of course we are only human beings and if something really cruel happens emotions break out right in the office. Nethertheless we should try to keep private things private.

Nobody wants to know what kind of asshole your ex boyfriend is. If you are close with a colleague, it is ok, but you should always pay attention, especially if you are not close to each other some day. Try to separate private from professional.

And most important: do not take anything personally! Things are often tough in work life, so it is really important to stay sovereign. Criticism has nothing to do with your private person. So please do never ever affronted slam the door or run out crying! Accept the criticism first, take a minute to think about it and argue conclusively in the end.

5. Know your market value

To be self-confidence in your job life you should also know your market value. You are an asked expert? Well due to times of skills shortage it is a very big plus! And you should show it. Do not sell yourself under value, make clear that it is a big privilege for your employer having such a great employee.

All your colleagues are working overtime? Nobody dares to leave office at 7pm? If you are doing the same, it is your own fault.  Of course there is more work from time to time, no discussion, but it should not be a routine. You have done all your tasks? Then go home! Knowing your own limits is also part of a self-confidence attitude!
