10 tips for working more efficient

Work, Work, Work, Work, Work

Hi my loves,

today I wanna give you some advice how to work more efficient. Who doesn’t know this situation? The phone rings, your inbox is flooded by hundred of emails and the boss is also standing right beside your door. Pooh, this is really exhausting and life is often overcharged. We have to deal with several things at the same time in our daily business and we are always trying to keep the balance and severals balls. So it is also very important to get a healthy work-life balance and pay attention to your body and soul. This is the only way to stay efficient.

To make your work life a little bit easier I would like to give you the follwing tips. And it doesn’t matter if you are working at home or  anywhere else in some kind of open-plan office:

1. Work with to-do lists

Well it might sound not that interesting and also really bourgeois but it is often neccessary. We have to handle a lot of differnt tasks day by day and it is a good thing to write them down. Otherwise we could easily forget anything and we don’t know what to do first. Just focus on one point then go to the other. Step by step. Set priorities with your list! You can find some pretty notebooks here or here. Let’s go straight to point 2:

2. Set priorities and stay focused on one thing

How often do we catch ourselves writing an email to Mr. Smith, picking up the phone and listening to Julia who is talking about her last weekend and greeting the boss in the door at the same time asking for the project to be finished at 2 pm. Oh sorry, what did you say? Exactly. Total confusion! So it is really important to concentrate on one thing and working on every single point step by step. Try to avoid being put off by unexpected reactions.

Put on the mute mood on your phone or put on your mailbox whenever you have to do an important task. Inform your colleauges as well as your boss. When you are sitting in some kind of open-plan office: use a pair of headphones to work on your project undisturbed.

3. Drink a bottle of water each day

It might sound lapidary but it is extremely important because you will not only get a terrific headache when you are dehydrated you will also not be able to concentrate on anything. If possible put a bottle of water right on your desk and set a reminder onto your smartphone to be reminded  every hour to drink a glass. So it is truly guaranteed that you are drinking enough.

4. Only check your emails twice a day

It is not a joke: I really know people who are seriously checking their emails every minute. It willl certainly drive you crazy! Our brain is not able to process so much information! Of course we should always work on important mails asap but if the house is on fire you will also get a phone call, believe me. So go through your emails step by step and you should not be interrupted by new mails which are displaying on your screen.

5. Healthy Snacks

It should be needless to say that you will not be happy with sweets, fries or some kind of chips on a hard working day. To give your body the right minerals and vital substances eat more healthy snacks. If your blogg glucose level is low in the afternoon eat some nuts, fruits or vegetable sticks.

6. Avoid coffee and drink green tea

Well I know it is not easy at all for real coffee junkie but green tea is healthier and keeps us awake much longer.

7. Take a break

Of course we all have so much to do, every day, ever minute but we also need to take breaks. If not we will not be able to work efficient anymore. So force yourself to take a few minutes. It is okay if you are just keep your eyes away from the screen a couple of minutes,a great recovery for eyes! Whenever possible: go outside to the fresh air!

8. Learn to say “No”

It is maybe the most difficult point here but also one of the most important. Women usually tend to ovewhelm themselves with too much work and then finally fall into chaos. If you have a lot of work on your desk and your friendly colleague is asking you to help her with a project stay nice and polite but say “No”. Trust you! Afterwards you will feel much better and every colleague or boss has to understand your situation!

9 + 10. Surround yourself with beautiful things and treat yourself in the evening

It is not easy to work within a loveless and meager environment. Put a couple of beautiful things on your desk e.g. some calendars, deco elements or scented candles. A nice working environment is important to stay focused and work efficient! A point which is oftern underestimated! It supports creativity and new impulses.

The last thing on my list: do at least one thing that makes you happy in the evening. It really doesn’t matter what you do as long as it makes you feel good.

Have a great rest of the week,

xoxo

Monique

    Liebe Monique,

ich arbeite auch gerne mit Listen! So arbeitet man wirklich gezielter.
