# depression = ticking bombs? #

I know that this is a very sensitive issue and I am treading on very thin ice with that but nevertheless I would like to tell you my opinion. Maybe it is not suitable for a fashion blog but there are also some things beyond fashion which draw my attention from time to time.

What happened with the Germanwings airplane is a tragedy. It really is. And it remains unbelievable. The commited crime by the co-pilot is incomprehensible. I strongly deprecate this, an absolute horror and condemnation. I do not understand how somebody is able to kill himself and 150 other human beings? It remains a mystery. There are no words and no excuses. But I am also shocked about this continuing hunting on all depressed persons. And by the way: normally data protection officers should go to the barricades. Above all I can not believe how some notorious german boulevard magazines came along with the “one size fits all” and claiming that all depressed persons are potential murderers or assailants. I also know some depressed people by myself. So should I be careful now? Are they automatically dangerous? Sorry, but this is bullshit. The mistake is our society and it will remain in our society if nothing will change. How often did they tell us that people can be open about their depression  and no longer remain taboo? Yes sure, you can go straightly to your boss and tell him that you have depressions and he will appreciate it. Sorry, but this is damn bullshit again. I am working in HR and I know how it runs. Depressions = not resilient = no performance = gainless

The society really has to change something here. Depressed people are sick and they need help. That’s for sure. But the sickness is not incurable and not every person with depression is automatically a monster. As long as this is not accepted in our performance society, there will be no change. People will remain hiding their sickness to avoid losing their job. I know own case: A person affected entrusted himself to his colleague. And what did she replied? “Oh come on, everybody has a bad days sometimes.” Hello!? It is important that we accept that depressions are a real illness. We have to support affected persons and look closely.  But representing all depressed persons as psychopaths is more than impudently. How do the people involved feel about it? Marked anyway because of this illness and now they have to fight against these prejudices, all potential murdereres. Just unbelievable. The Germanwings Case is an exception, hopefully stays a exception. A sick man with no way out. Why he drag 150 others to death, remains unclear. It is a fact that we have to change something. Now we have found our bogeyman but we cannot change anything. Unfortunately. We can only create the future. So let’s do it now. Here and today.
