The Lumiares Hotel

When in Lisbon – The Lumiares Hotel

Hi my loves

as you have seen in my latest Travel Diary we have been to Lisbon in February. And this city just got me like! I can’t get over it, so I will fly back again very soon, that’s for sure. The city is not only full of colors houses it is even more a metropolis full of power and energy, just a perfect kind of “feel good” city!

When we planned our trip to Portugal I knew that we would stay in the most fashionable neighborhood called “Bairro Alto”. So I was so lucky that we found the beautiful Boutique- and Designhotel “The Lumiares“. It is a jewel right in the middle of the quirky quarter and perfect to discover everything around.

And trust me you can do a lot in Bairro Alto. If you prefer a drive with one of the famous trams or if you would like to explore the viewing platform right in front of the hotel or if you are in the mood for a little or big shopping trip (e.g. to the near Embaixada), you will find everything just a stone’s throw away. There is literally nothing better!

The hotel and the rooms

The hotel itself is super stylish and modern but also very comfy. As you have already seen in my Instagram Stories we were so lucky to stay in a beautiful suite with two bedrooms. To be honest: it was so cool I wish I could have stayed forever! I just felt so comfortable. The interior is truly mine and the mix of local design elements and midcentury is definitely an eye-catcher. A funny fact is that you can order the design elements of you want. Such a cool idea!

One thing I could not get my hands off were the super cute bathroom amenities from Claus Porto. The Portuguese colourful prints are made for me and they would also be perfect for my own bathroom. So classy and playful at the same time!

The sophisticated interior leaves everyone without desires. I was also impressed by the little seatings right next to the big windows. Must be a dream during summer, a oasis right in the middle of the urban jungle!

Culinary – The food

The Lumiares offers everything you need during an exciting city trip. Of course the food is also a big thing. I really like the both Mercado Cafés which offer a variation of food for lunch or for a quick coffee break with a delicious brownie. It just depends on your mood and plans for the day! The best thing is the super stylish “Lumni Restaurant” with an amazing roof terrace and a breathtaking view above Lisboa.

The Restaurant is managed by star chef Miguel Castro e Silva who also performed magic when having a fabulous dinner! Thanks dear Miguel!

The Spa

My personal highlight during our stay was the one-hour-long aroma therapy massage I got in the hotel’s Spa. Mein persönliches Highlight war eine 1-stündige Aromaöl-Massage hotel-owned Spa. The whole area is very noble and invites you to linger a while. You can get several treatments like massages or facials. There is also a little sauna and steam bath as well as a gym area for a short jogging session.

And here is my conclusion in total.

Things I liked most about the hotel:

  • the rooms and the interior
  • the situation of the hotel
  • the food (lunch + dinner)

Things I did not liked so much:

  • breakfast was not so big and variedly as expected
  • the Spa area is a bit too small and narrow

All in all I can only recommend this beautiful hotel right in the middle of the quirky Bairro Alto!

A special thanks goes out to Catarina who made our stay as gorgeous as possible.
